Shoppers Double Coupons Up to $1 May 25-31, 2009

It appears that Shoppers Food Warehouse locations in the Washington DC Metro area are DOUBLING manufacturer coupons again starting tomorrow, Thursday, May 28 through Sunday, May 31.

This time they are doubling all coupons up to and including $1.00!
This gives all of us avid couponers a chance to use up our $1 manufacturer coupons for some substantial savings.

Gina from Moneywise Moms tipped me off when she mentioned briefly in her Safeway deals post that there was an awesome deal on cereal starting tomorrow at Shoppers Food Warehouse.  I just saw the circular, and selected Kellogg’s products are on sale 2 for $5.  Remember all those $1.00 printable cereal coupons from earlier this month?  Hopefully you printed them out when they were available (no longer up).  When they double this weekend at Shoppers that will bring the price of select Kelloggg’s cereals down to $0.50 per box.  But wait… This could be a money-maker opportunity, because Shoppers has a store coupon in the circular for an instant $5.00 off your total when you buy $20.00 worth of participating Kellogg’s products:

Kellogg’s Apple Jacks 12.2 oz.
Kellogg’s Froot Loops 12.2 oz.
Kellogg’s Corn Pops 12.5 oz.
Kellogg’s Raisin Bran 20 oz.
Kellogg’s Jumbo Krispies 11.2 oz.
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies 12 oz.
Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes 17 oz.
Kellogg’s Corn Flakes 18 oz.
Kellogg’s Honey Smacks 15.5 oz.
Kellogg’s Cocoa Krispies 16.5 oz.
Kellogg’s Crispix 12 oz.
Kellogg’s Fun Pak Cereal 7 oz.
Kellogg’s 12 pack Pop-Tarts, Selected Varieties 21-22 oz
Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats, Strawberry 16.5 oz
Kellogg’s Bite Size Mini-Wheats, Cinnamon Streusel or Blueberry Muffin 16 oz.
Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats, Maple and Brown Sugar 16.5 oz. OR Original 18 oz.
Kellogg’s Little Bites Mini-Wheats Bite Size, Honey OR Chocolate  14.5 oz.
Kellogg’s Unfrosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size 18 oz.
Kellogg’s Eggo Pancakes or French Toaster Sticks, Selected Varieties, Swirtz, Twists, Mini Muffin  7.7-16.4 oz.

That is some pretty hefty cereal savings!  If you don’t have the $1 printable coupons the cereal comes out to less than $1.88 a box when you buy 8 and use your $5/$20 store coupon.  If you do have 8 $1 printable coupons, and buy 8 boxes, you end up earning back $1.  Free cereal! Plus, add a $1 filler (or something you actually need!) to your shopping cart and, pay only sales tax!

According to sources on AFullCup the double coupon event lasts through 5/31 and the number of coupons you can use is UNLIMITED.
I expect that the Redemption Unlimited gals will have a rockin’ list for this coupon deal since they’ve done such a great job listing out past match-ups for Shoppers double/triple coupons.

Unlike the past Triple/Double coupon combination, this promo is only for double (no triples) and please check your store’s circular to make sure your store is participating (looks like in VA the following stores are participating: Burke, Fairfax, Chantilly, Manassas, Sterling, Herndon, Leesburg, Gainesville & Centreville; and in MD: Wheaton, Olney & White Flint).

Looking forward to the deals starting tomorrow!  And don’t forget, Harris Teeter is tripling coupons up to $0.99 thru 6/2/09.  You can check out more on this deal here.

Happy shopping everyone!

Our Fredericksburg store is doing it all week. I’ll have to check next week’s ad, but they have been doing this promo for several weeks running. Unfortunately, unlike the NoVa shoppers, we are only allowed 4 like coupons 😦 So, this makes for several trips for me when I find a cheapie or a freebie. That would make the cereal deal nearly impossible to do. Oh well, you take what you can get, right?

BTW, I have used the Tortillaz $1/1 coupons and gotten them free. They were $1.89, I think. They also tasted gross.

Thanks for the comment and for letting me (and anybody else stumbling onto my blog) know about the double coupon promo that the Fredericksburg Shoppers Food Warehouse is doing. That’s awesome that it’s all week-long and has been running for several weeks. I’m envious! Although, that does stink that they will only allow 4 of the same coupon in one transaction. That means multiple trips to SFW in order to use up all those coupons you’ve been clipping, which you may not have the time for.
Thanks for also letting me know about the Tortillaz that were free after double coupons. It sounds like I’ll pass on that since they didn’t pass your taste test :). Have you ever tried SoyJoy bars? Those have been free after rebate at RiteAid and free after ECB’s at CVS in the past, and in my opinion, those taste so yucky, that I don’t want to buy them even if they’re free! I read a funny post mentioning SoyJoy’s and frugal food failures here at Frugal in Virginia’s website: http://www.frugalinvirginia.com/2008/09/husband-lab-1-soyjoyfortified-with.html

You are not kidding that those Soy Joy bars are NASTY. My 4 year old is like Mikey of Life Cereal fame… but even he won’t eat them! I’m thinking maybe I’ll give them out free at a yard sale or something.

BTW, the Dawn .50/1 off any Dawn tripled to make it free – the small size of course that was about $1.29. Even doubled at your NoVa stores, it is .29 for the small bottle. That was in the Home Made Simple booklet I got in the mail.

LOL! SoyJoys must be an acquired taste… I actually have read people rave about them before, but I know better from experience that those are inedible for my palate 🙂
Thanks for the tip on the Dawn coupon.
I’m sure you read on some other frugal blogs that us NOVA Shoppers stores now automatically double Manufacturer coupons up to $0.99 every day just like some of the other supermarkets. I hope they’ll still have double $1 coupon promos and Triples on occasion though, because those make my day!

  2. Thanks much for article. It’s very good read.
